It has been reported that the call was met with great relief from the
lighting industry, with 256 responses received in total between April and June.
The reaction was that the first option of maintaining the led flood light was not
sustainable, with options 3 and 4 receiving the most votes. The third option was
setting targets for compliance schemes, with a “compliance fee” if targets were
not met, with the fourth being to match election sites to collection schemes.
The government is set to release a draft regulation by the end of the month with
a view to bringing the new law into force in January.
The LED Lighting from Visible Lighting is eco- friendly, and the specialists
have a natural interest in the impact of lighting waste on the environment.
Reflecting on the WEEE consultation responses, a representative from the firm
explains the benefits of light emitting diodes.
“It is important that attention is paid to the safe disposal and recycling of
waste electrical products, especially when we consider that traditional bulbs
contain hazardous substances such as Mercury. In contrast, led high bay light do not contain
these harmful materials. They are also more durable and have a longer lifespan
than incandescent bulbs, lasting an impressive 50,000 hours, meaning there is
less volume of waste too. Our advice to those considering their carbon footprint
therefore will be to convert to energy saving LEDs.”

a white LED could be demonstrated successfully on metal foil
The product is the result from a joint OLED project R2flex that was focused
on the production of highly efficient organic devices on flexible substrates,
manufactured in a roll-to-roll process technology. The project that successfully
concluded recently, was funded by the led high bay light for Education and
Research Germany (BMBF) with a total sum of about 11 million Euros over a period
of 2.5 years.
The overall aim of the joint project R2Flex included the development of essential components for highly efficient OLED technology. The OLED should be processed in a roll-to-roll process technology on cost-effective substrates, especially on metal foil. This technological approach should help solve a main problem of the production of OLED: to be able to offer and use OLED for lighting and signage applications, low costs are essential. This key fact could not be achieved by the conventional technology approaches because of the high costs of the coating technologies and materials.
Fraunhofer COMEDD has improved its roll-to-roll research line, which consists of a vacuum system for the evaporation of organic materials. Furthermore, it includes a coating and lamination system, which can be used under nitrogen atmosphere, and an optical inspection system for defect control and processes monitoring on flexible foils. Within the R2Flex project the OLED technology of established processes could successfully be transferred from rigid substrates to roll-to-roll processes. Especially, the processes for patterning of substrates and encapsulation of the foils were developed. However, one of the most important key challenges of the investigations was the deposition technology of complex OLED structures. To achieve e.g. white OLED, many different layers with a layer thickness in the range of several nanometers have to be deposited precisely on top of each other. Performing this process within a roll-to-roll line was a complex task. Nevertheless, a white LED could be demonstrated successfully on metal foil.
As a result of the joint project led flood light a demonstrator in form of a gracile desk luminaire could be manufactured. Therefore, two flexible OLED on metal substrate have been used, which were produced at Fraunhofer COMEDD. The modules were serially connected via flexible contacting. The luminaire combines both straight and curved shapes. The curved shape of the head section of the luminaire impressively presents the flexibility of the OLED.

it was decided to expand orders to a broader range of manufacturers in August
In the new iPhone 5S/5C, Apple has used sapphire crystal to create the touch
home button and fingerprint sensors. After months of testing, it was decided to
expand orders to a broader range of manufacturers in August. Such manufacturers
included Crystal Applied Technology, Crystalwise Technology, and Tera Xtal
Technology.
Sapphire crystal has a hardness second only to that of diamonds. This makes it especially difficult to manufacture. Adding in that Apple requires the substrate to have a width no more than 300µm for led flood light use in the phone’s home button, substrate tends to have a low yield rate.
In the past, one 2 inch piece of sapphire crystal was enough to be cut into 55 pieces for use in Apple iPhone cameras. Now however, the same piece of crystal can only be cut into 16 pieces for the home button in the new iPhone 5S/5C. With increasing screen size and manufacturing becoming more difficult, there will be a much faster consumption of sapphire crystal manufacturer’s production capacity.
Crystal Applied Technology saw monthly growth of 26.79 percent with August revenue reaching NT$194 million, year-on-year expected to reach 100.65 percent showing a strong growth trend. It is predicted that the upward growth trend will continue till the end of the year. led high bay light Technology August revenue was NT$170 million with a monthly growth of 3.6 percent, year-on-year of 78.69 percent. Tera Xtal Technology revenue for August was NT$99.23 million, declined 16.61 percent and year-on-year is expected to decrease 35.11 percent. The main impacting cause was a slump in delivery numbers and adjustment to LED industry inventory. Revenue for Apple optic component supplier however deferred, which is a test to their technology.

the impact of negative foreign exchange effects
A breakdown by segment reveals shifts in the patterns of growth in Q1. For
the Components Segment there was the first return to growth in seven quarters.
For the first time, growth in LED products more than offset the declining demand
for magnetic and electronic ballasts. In all, segment revenues rose by 1.6% to
EUR 99.7 million. Revenues in the Lighting Segment by contrast remained impacted
by the disappointing development of the commercial construction sector. Segment
revenues declined by 5.4% in the first quarter to EUR 229.9 million.
As a result of the substantial year-on-year downturn in the global economy, the Zumtobel Group recorded lower revenues in all regions during the reporting period, with the exception of Southern Europe. Revenues in Europe as a whole fell by 2.1% to EUR 246.0 million. The share of Group revenues accounted for by Europe reached 79.5% in the first quarter. Outside Europe too, revenues fell, with the Asia & Middle East region down 2.4%, America down 30% after dynamic growth in the previous quarters, and Australia & New Zealand down 15.1% under the impact of negative foreign exchange effects.
Despite the downturn in revenues, operating earnings adjusted for special effects showed a 40.7% rise year-on-year, reaching EUR 17.7 million. That equates to a return on sales of 5.7%. Both segments benefited from the restructuring measures implemented in the previous year, which focused on aligning cost structures with the lower level of revenues and on the ongoing development of the product portfolio. In addition, the company benefitted from reductions in the cost of materials. The exit from magnetics technology decided in June led to negative special effects of EUR 6.9 million being recognised in the first quarter of 2013/14. As a result, net profit for the period fell from EUR 8.6 million in the prior-year period to EUR 6.7 million.

The LED weatherproof battens are also available in emergency
Which produce light outputs similar to fluorescent tubes, are installed to
replace the tubes. Featuring a led high bay light frosted diffuser to soften the light and
engineered quality heat management, these fittings ensure high performance and
long life.Vibe weatherproof battens are ideal for car parks, public areas,
freezers, schools, warehouses and abattoirs. The LED weatherproof battens are
also available in emergency and dimmable versions to meet different
requirements.
The emergency version features a test switch and light, with an option of one- or three-hour durations. When in emergency mode, it provides approximately 10% of the light output, and depending on the wattage, will light up full or half of the fitting.
DALI LED weatherproof battens feature digitally controlled modules via DALI signal with the functions depending on the controller used. Minimum and maximum dimming levels can be programmed, while the control input is protected against polarity reversal and accidental connection to mains voltage. Control line must be installed according to relevant directives on low voltage.
Speaking at the launch of the Photon Project, Brent Richards, architect and designer responsible for the concept and implementation of the led flood light and unique design of the Photon Pod says: “Understanding how people feel in different light settings means applying designed light in ways that harmonize with natural light and benefit people when they’re at home, at work – and anywhere else, at any time. Philips Hue is much more than a lamp with mood settings–it is the tip of the iceberg of what we can do with more dynamic lighting, as the Photon Project will show.

the nature of light is critical to the success of the display
Xicato believes that the expectation for quality light should extend to
ambient lighting, in addition to accent and spot lighting, and has filled its
Artist Series range with flux led flood lighting levels between 700 and 3000 lumens. Compromising
good light to achieve efficiency is no longer necessary, and end-users should no
longer need to make the tradeoff.
Initially, yaham was a favorite of museum curators around the world for whom the nature of light is critical to the success of the display. Use of the Artist Series has expanded to the retail, hospitality and healthcare segments as higher efficiency and flux options became available. In retail and hospitality settings, customer experience and comfort is essential to business growth and success, and in each, it is now possible to illuminate larger spaces with more natural light that makes color look right and brings energy to the environment.
YAHAM is complemented by its Standard Series and Vibrant Series, each providing light that enables lighting designers, interior designers and others to achieve the desired emotional impact for their environments. Current datasheets and product information are available directly from YAHAM.
Artist Series light is virtually indistinguishable from halogen-based light and gives yaham light an even richer feel compared to other sources.Vibrant Series light brings out vivid, saturated colors and the led high bay light details of texture for compelling and eye-catching visuals that capture and hold consumers' attention.Standard Series light provides light that is functional and superior to ceramic metal halide and fluorescent lamps.
