Energy-efficient LED lighting is being installed in more places

Cree continues to lead the LED Lighting Revolution with the announcement of a new 150-mm LED wafer production facility in Research Triangle Park (RTP) that is targeted to create hundreds of green jobs in North Carolina. The new LED wafer production line will be located in Cree's existing LED Linear high bay light production facility, and will allow Cree to produce 150-mm LED wafers that are more than double the size of current ones, increasing the number of LEDs from a single wafer, helping to make LED lighting more cost-effective. The new production line is scheduled to be installed over the next several quarters with a target of having the first products qualified on this line by June 2011.

Energy-efficient LED lighting is being installed in more places, in more countries every day. Companies, cities, universities and the federal government are saving energy and money by joining the LED Lighting Revolution. To keep pace with the growing market for energy-efficient LED lighting, Cree has added more than 600 jobs since early 2009, surpassing the company's 2012 hiring goals set last fall. Cree anticipates hiring nearly 250 more employees by 2013 to staff the new wafer production line expansion.150-mm LED wafers are an important step in enabling the next phase of LED lighting," said Cree CEO and Chairman, Chuck Swoboda. "These new larger wafers are the result of Cree's relentless focus on innovation, demonstrating our commitment to leading the LED Lighting Revolution."

Applied LED technology specialist, Dialight has been invited to present at Strategies in Light Europe taking place from 27-29 September 2010 at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers Conference Center, Germany. Held for the first time in 2010, Strategies in Light Europe builds on the success of the flagship Strategies in Light event in California, USA, now in its 11th year, bringing together led high bay and Lighting technologies from all sectors and all stages of the supply chain, providing one event for people within the industry to find the solutions they need.

that scale from a small office to an entire enterprise

The company increased nine MOCVD sets in the first six month and planed to increase another twenty in the second six month of 2010.Genesis was expected to have fifty-five MOCVD sets in both blue and green LED Linear high bay light production at the end of 2010.Following the experience in wirebonding packaging, SPIL focused on the HB multi-chips LED packaging market. And the company thought LED packaging didn’t offer high gross margins, but multi-chip packaging had higher profits compared to single-chip packaging.

The new ControlScope software platform without requiring new wiring to connect with fixtures, switches, sensors, and other devices, can control installations that scale from a small office to an entire enterprise and reside on the Wireless Area Controller (WAC).

A senior leader of Daintree noted, lighting controls only had 7% penetration within commercial buildings because cost, complexity and technology issues had held it back. Zigbee would affect retrofit installations. And more and more person would like lighting controls because led high bay typically accounts for 40% of the electricity used by businesses.

LED industry would see its price/earnings ratio surge

Prior to developing laser systems, QMC was a former Korean sales and service representative of JPSA; therefore, they had key information about our technology and methods. We were surprised and disappointed to find QMC filing for patents already granted to JPSA.led high bay Despite our disappointment, we continue to invest valuable time and money to protect our highly advanced laser technology, and our years of experience and development work has resulted in JPSA’s strong market presence in scribing and LLO of LEDs.”

Once the deal is concluded Taiwan’s LED industry would see its price/earnings ratio surge to at least 20 folds as a whole from current 15 folds or so, according to the industry executives estimated.Epistar executives pointed out that Epistar now has a total of 1,200 patents, placing it in an advantageous position in patent-licensing negotiation, and the company has been vigorously pursing the opportunity to talk with LED heavyweights over patent cross-licensing deals.Taiwan’s industry watchers welcome Epistar’s moves to sign patent cross-licensing deals with major players from the point of view that such efforts would give application providers peace of mind when using the company’s chips.

Wang Lianghai, Vice President of Tsinghua Tonfang commented, "After thorough evaluation of available MOCVD systems at our Beijing LED R&D site, we selected Veeco as our primary supplier for our new production facility in NanTong which is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The TurboDisc(R) K465i MOCVD systems were the clear winner in terms of cost of ownership and productivity. We have an aggressive plan to ramp production of led high bay light primarily to address backlighting demand for TVs, and Veeco's technology, tool performance and customer support best matched our needs.

The Home Depot’s promise to offer LED lighting without compromise

Chuck Swoboda, chief executive officer and chairman, Cree said that consumers don’t have to turn to wasteful incandescent or mercury-laden fluorescent options when they can easily choose energy-efficient lighting that delivers warm light and beautiful color.Bill Hamilton, electrical merchandising vice-president of the Home Depot noted that The EcoSmart led high bay delivers on The Home Depot’s promise to offer LED lighting without compromise. Using award-winning Cree TrueWhite technology, The Home Depot is now able to deliver a lighting-class, energy-efficient solution to customers.

Chemtura Organometallics GmbH of Bergkamen, Germany, a subsidiary of US-based specialty chemical manufacturer Chemtura Corp. announces that the company will further expand Bergkamen plant to provide a sustainable supply for tomorrow's global customer requirements of the specialty chemicals trimethylaluminum (TMA), methylaluminoxane (MAO), and diethylzinc (DEZ).Chemtura and South Korea’s UP Chemical Co Ltd have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a joint venture that will manufacture and sell high-purity metal-organic precursors for the rapidly growing HB-LED market, focusing particularly on South Korea and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

The JV will leverage Chemtura's capability and technology related to metal-organic precursors for polymerization and other specialty applications, together with its backward integration for TMA for led high bay light. This will combine with UP Chemical’s capabilities in supplying high-purity metal-organic precursors for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) systems at semiconductor device makers in South Korea and the Asia Pacific. The JV expects to begin supplying precursors to the HB-LED market by December, and to have fully integrated manufacturing capabilities for trimethylgallium (TMG) and trimethylaluminum (TMA) established in Korea in late 2011.
